Departure Dates

  • Day 1:  Arrive Auckland
    You will be met at the airport and transferred to your city hotel.  The rest of the day is yours to explore the "City of Sails".
  • Day 2:  Auckland to Paihia
    Travel across the Harbour Bridge and head north to the Bay of Islands.  On arrival a Maori guide will give you an informative tour o the Waitangi Treaty Grounds & Treaty House.  Following that a scenic cruise to the Cape Brett Lighthouse and the famous 'Hole in the Rock' is included
  • Day 3:  Explore the Bay of Islands
    A free day to explore the beautiful Bay of Islands.  Ask your coach captain for suggestions to fill the day.
  • Day 4:  Auckland to Rotorua
    Travel via the East Coast to Auckland where you will visit the Sky Tower to enjoy 360 degree views across the city.  It is then on the geothermal wonderland of Rotorua viewing lush farmlands of the Waikato region enroute.
  • Day 5:  At Rotorua
    Today begins with a visit to the Agrodome to see a unique New Zealand farm show.  This is followed by a visit to Rainbow Springs to learn about our famous Kiwi bird.  A ride on the Skyline Gondola and Luge ride are included.  Enjoy wonderful mountain and lake views, and watch the brave hearted on the Sky Swing.  The evening takes you to Tamaki Village for an evening of fun and culture.
  • Day 6:  Taupo & Napier
    View the mighty Huka Falls and the Wairakei Geothermal project before stopping at the largest lake in New Zealand.  Continue on to Napier, often regarded as the world's Art Deco capital.  On arrival, enjoy a guided walking tour of the city.
  • Day 7: Napier to Wellington
    Travel through the rural heartland of the Wairarapa towards Wellington, stopping at historic Greytown to view the colonial architecture.  From there head over the Rimutaka Ranges and into our capital city where you will be taken on a city tour.
  • Day 8:  Wellington to Blenheim
    You have a free morning to explore Wellington before your cruise across Cook Strait to the picturesque fishing village of Picton. Rejoin your coach for a short journey south to Blenheim in the heart of Marlborough wine country.  Dinner will be at The Olde Malthouse where you'll be taken on a guided tour and tasting of some Renaissance Craft beers.
  • Day 9:  Blenheim to Christchurch
    Hug the coastline south to Kaikoura, a coastal town nestled between the Kaikoura Mountain Range and Pacific Ocean, then continue on to Christchurch.  On arrival enjoy a brief tour of Christchurch and a visit to the International Antarctic Centre.
  • Day 10:  Christchurch to Mt Cook & Omarama
    Cross the Canterbury Plains with the Southern Alps to the west.  View the Church of the Good Shepherd and the Collie Dog Memorial overlooking Lake Tekapo.  Visit the Sir Edmund Hillary Centre at Mt Cook and have time to enjoy the scenic majesty of New Zealand's highest mountain.
  • Day 11:  Omarama to Dunedin
    Travel down the Waitaki Valley to Oamaru stopping enroute to view the mystical Moeraki Boulders, and continue on to Dunedin arriving early enough for you to explore this Scottish inspired city.  Prior to your evening dining you will be treated to a traditional Scottish Haggis Ceremony complete with piper, address to the Haggis and gift.
  • Day 12:  Dunedin to Te Anau
    The day begins with a visit to Larnach Castle where you will learn about its tragic and mysterious history.  From there you will head inland, crossing rich farmlands on the way to Te Anau, gateway to the Fiordland National Park.
  • Day 13:  Milford Sound Cruise
    Enjoy amazing scenery as you travel the road to Milford, regarded by many as one of the most scenic roads in the world. Your cruise takes you the entire length of the fiord where you will view spectacular waterfalls, towering mountains and wildlife.
  • Day 14:  Te Anau to Queenstown
    Travel north skirting the shores of Lake Wakatipu to the picturesque alpine resort of Queenstown.  An evening cruise aboard the vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw takes you to the Colonel's Homestead at Walter Peak High Country Farm for a gourmet barbeque dinner.
  • Day 15:  At Queenstown
    A free day to experience the "adventure capital" of New Zealand.  There is an incredible array of adventure and leisure activities and your coach captain can assist with suggestions to fill your day.
  • Day 16:  Queenstown to Franz Josef
    Pass through historic Arrowtown and stop at Wanaka for picturesque views.  See the untouched wilderness and pristine lakes of the Mt Aspiring and Westland National Parks before arriving in the Glaciers region.
  • Day 17:  TranzAlpine to Christchurch
    Visit a Pounamu (Greenstone) factory at Hokitika before travelling to Greymouth to board the train bound for Christchurch. Renowned as one of the most scenic train journeys in the world, this coast to coast adventure will take you through the Southern Alps, over massive viaducts, river valleys and gorges.
  • Day 18:  Depart Christchurch
    Sadly, it's time to say goodbye to your new friends and return home to share tales of your experiences in Aotearoa.

Itinerary

  • Day 1:  Arrive Auckland
    You will be met at the airport and transferred to your city hotel.  The rest of the day is yours to explore the "City of Sails".
  • Day 2:  Auckland to Paihia
