Experience a Kiwi winter wonderland with this 14 day New Zealand tour from favourite destinations such as Rotorua, Tongariro, Abel Tasman, Mount Cook National Park and Milford Sound to a few new favourites in winter such as renowned Thermal Hot Pool and Spas of Hanmer Springs and the world class alpine village of Queenstown! A New Zealand winter is from June - August.

Day 1:  Arrive in Auckland
You will be met at the airport and delivered to your city hotel.  Visit the Sky Tower for 360 degree views of cosmopolitan Auckland, or take a short bus ride to the Auckland Museum to watch over the city from Auckland Domain.

Day 2:  Auckland to Rotorua
This morning takes you via the lush pastures of Waikato and the fruit basket of the Bay of Plenty.  Pass through Te Puke, the Kiwifruit capital of the world, and on to the geothermal wonderland of Rotorua.  Along the way we board a 53ft catamaran for a relaxing sail on serene Lake Rotoiti to secluded coves and finish the day with a warm relaxing soak in natural hot pools reached only by boat - a memorable end to an awesome day.

Day 3:  Rotorua tours and activities
Visit the Buried Village of Te Wairoa for a hosted lunch and hear storeis from their Maori and European histories.  the afternoon is then yours to relax or take in the sights and sounds of Rotorua.

Day 4:  Rotorua to Tongariro National Park
We'll visit Wai-O-Tapu geothermal wonderland before continuing on  to 'Great Lake Taupo, stopping enroute to view the famous Huka Falls.  Your home tonight is the Chateau Tongariro, at the foot of Mt Ruepehu, the perfect spot to stretch your legs on a short walk before dinner.

Day 5:  Tongariro to Wellington
After breakfast at The Chateau you can choose from a variety of activityies such as taking a chairlift ride to New Zealand's highest cafe, or a choice of beautiful walks through the Silica Rapids or Taranaki Falls.  On arrival at Wellington th afternoon is yours to explore at your leisure.

Day 6:  At Welllington
You have a whole day to explore.  Head up Mt Victoria for stunning views over the harbour, or explore Wellington's vibrant museums, theatres, galleries, boutiques and cafes in Courtney Place.  Stroll along the waterfront and have an icecream while enjoying the scenery and comings and goings.

Day 7:  Wellington to the South Island via Cook Strait ferry
We cruise Cook Strait on one of the most scenic short cruises in the world. Our first stop in the South Island is Forrest Wines for tasting and lunch, right in the heart of world famous Marlborough sauvignon blanc region.  It's then on to Nelson, the sunshine capital of New Zealand and gateway to the Abel Tasman National Park.

Day 8:  Abel Tasman National Park
Today we travel to Kaiteriteri where you have the choice of a scenic cruise or walk a section of the Abel Tasman Coastal Track, one of New Zealand's Great Walks.

Day 9:  Nelson to Hanmer Springs
We leave the orchards and artisans behind and head to the foothills of the Southern Alps. 

Day 10:  Hanmer Springs to Aoraki Mount Cook
Visit a working farm with a heritage homestead surrounded by huge gardens.  Lunch here uses uce straight from the gardens.  The afternoon takes us through spectacular Mackenzie Country with its sweeping tussock lands and the backbone of the South Island, the Southern Alps.  Get your cameras ready for the unreal turqoise blue of Lake Pukaki and the very scenic Church of the Good Shepherd at Lake Tekapo.  In the evening we go star gazing at Mt Cook, one of the darkest sky reserves in the world.  It's even better at winter time as the skies get darker earlier giving your more time to enjoy this experience.

Day 11:  Mount Cook to Queenstown
Learn about one the most famous Kiwi of all at the Sir Edmund Hillary Alpine Centre, cruise on a glacial lake, take a scenic flight or just walk one of the many easy tracks around the village.
