    • At 35kms long and more protected than a National Park, public acccess to Farewell Spit is usually restricted to the first 4 kms, however this tour travels the full length of the spit aboard a robust 4WD vehicle.

      Departing from Collingwood, tour duration is 6.5 hours.

      As your travel along the beach, actual departure times are dependent on the tides and will be advised on confirmation of booking.

      Note:  As it is 2.5 hours drive from Nelson to Collingwood, we recommend over-nighting in Takaka pre or post this tour.

      Highlights

      • Cape Farewell, the South Island's most northerly point and home to seals and their pups
      • Fossil Point, where old fossils expose themselves among the rocks and sea life abounds in rock pools nearby
      • Climb the lighthouse and have refreshments in the keepers cottage
