    • Cross the rich farmland of Southland toward Te Anau and Fiordland National Park where you experience a guided day hike on the world famous Milford Track. Then venture along the Milford Road exploring the many short trails before spending the night on Milford Sound, without doubt this will be a highlight of your trip. Continue north to the adventure mecca of Queenstown with lots of time to explore the many activities or simply relax and soak up the atmosphere. Next take a fully guided day hike on the incredible Routeburn Track. A short drive over the crown range (the highest sealed road in New Zealand) and onto Wanaka, a walkers paradise. An afternoon self-exploring along the Matukituki Valley is recommended. On to Mt Cook National Park where you'll enjoy a Glacier Explorer’s trip before an afternoon exploring the trails all easily accessed from the village. There is something for everyone’s ability and every weather condition. Continue crossing the Mackenzie high country through Lake Tekapo and back to Christchurch.

       

    • Day 1:  Welcome to Christchurch
      On arrival you will be met by a private driver and delivered to yourcity accommodation.  A tour pack which includes everything you need for the duration of your stay will be handed to you.

      Day 2:  Christchurch to Dunedin
      Collect your rental car and travel south, crossing the Canterbury Plains, to Dunedin.

      Day 3:  At Dunedin
      Explore Dunedin and the Otago Peninsula.  Perhaps take a wildlife tour or enjoy one of the short walks.  The drive out to the Peninsula is particularly scenic and right at the tip is the Gannet Colony.  We suggest you stop for a meal at the1908 Portobello Cafe Restaurant and admire the aquatic view.

      Day 4:  Dunedin - Te Anau
      Enjoy the scenic drive across Southland to Te Anau and Fiordland National Park.

      Day 5:  Milford Track walk
      Get a taste of the famous Milford Track on a one-day guided adventure. The Milford Track, long regarded as the 'finest walk in the world' is a four day trip through the heart of Fiordland National Park. 

      Day 6:  Milford Sound cruise
      Drive the famous Milford Road, often described as one of the world's most scenic drives, to Milford Wharf and board the Mariner vessel for an overnight cruise.

      Day 7:  Overnight cruise returns
      From Milford Wharf drive north through Southland countryside towards Lake Wakatipu. The road now hugs the lake edge and the Remarkable mountain range towers over you as you approach Queenstown, the adventure capital of New Zealand.

      Day 8:  At Queenstown
      The day is yours to discover all the scenic spot and fun activities on offer in Queenstown

      Day 9:  Routeburn Track walk
      A journey to the head of Lake Wakatipu is the ideal preparation for the splendour of the world-famous Routeburn Track walk. As you travel northwest on a road that clings to the very edge of the lake, your guide will introduce you to the history and landscape of the region. 

      Day 10:  Queenstown - Wanaka (1 hr drive)
      Leaving Queenstown you'll drive over New Zealand's highest sealed road, the Crown Range, before arriving into the resort town of Wanaka.  Explore the many activities or enjoy walking the tracks.

      Day 11:  Wanaka - Mount Cook
      Leaving Wanaka you'll cross the Lindis Pass towards the MacKenzie Country and Mt Cook.  Please note there are no food or shops at Mount Cook so you will need to stock up prior to arriving in Mount Cook if you wish to self cater.

      Day 12:  At Mt Cook
      This morning take a 3 hour glacier explorers boat tour.  Experience 500 year old icebergs up-close on the Mt Cook terminal lake. The Glacier Explorers tour is the only one of its kind in New Zealand - and one of only three in the world!  Note that this general operates from the middle of September to late May - the glacier lake freezes over winter so the start of the season is subject to the lake thawing.
      The afternoon is free to enjoy one of the many walks from Mt Cook Village.

      Day 13:  Mt Cook - Christchurch
      Today you will enjoy a scenic drive past the alpine lakes and through the Canterbury Plains to Christchurch, your destination for the night.

      Day 14:  Depart Christchurch
      Explore more of Christchurch before dropping your rental car at the airport depot and continuing your onward journey.
